Our Story began with George and Marie Cavanaugh’s desire to help raise funds for their church in South Dakota. Experimenting with her amazing pecan roll recipe, Marie created a variety of delicious candy confections to sell. The fund-raiser proved successful, and afterwards people still wanted to buy her chocolates. With a dream of opening a candy store and a one pound box of their chocolates as collateral, George and Marie went to the bank to apply for a loan. They left the bank with the loan, an empty box, and their first customer. The banker had eaten the whole box of their chocolates during the interview and was so impressed that he approved the loan and ordered over 200 pounds of chocolates for his clients. Mrs. Cavanaugh’s Chocolates was born!
